Oldham Church Of Christ ....
When you see what you have never seen before, you will do what you have never done before. When you meet someone who does ALL things well, you follow Him to the ends of the earth. The witnessing of human life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ empowered His Disciples to spread the Image of God to the ends of the earth until there was no place left. We have a religion called Christianity today because of the choice the first disciples made to follow in the steps of Jesus Christ.
And they were amazed beyond measure, saying, 'He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf and the mute to speak.'" Mark 7:37
Followers of Christ today have received this same mandate to fill the earth with God's image by following the footprints of Jesus. We are little Christs today. Consequently, we must examine his example so that we can imitate it. Our objective in 2026 (and hopefully for the rest of our lives) is to study the Life of Christ so that we may see Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly until we reach the fullness of Christ.
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. 1Peter 2:21
We seek to study the Life of Christ to walk in His steps in FOUR cardinal areas as outlined in Luke 2:52:
Wisdom
Stature
Favour with God
Favour with man
Jesus grew in wisdom, and so must we. Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. What this means is that we must possess the knowledge, attitude, and skills required to grow into the fullness of Christ. Thankfully, we don't have to do it alone. We have help from the Holy Spirit as we allow ourselves to be led by Him.
Jesus was strong in mind and body. He was trained as a carpenter and worked as one. He looked after himself and paid careful attention to His wellbeing. We hope to explore ways we can improve the state of our physical, mental, and emotional health. Growth in stature also means quality gained by achievement. Hence, we will also explore advancement in our careers and ways we can better manage our finances as well, to the glory of God.
Jesus Christ enjoyed closeness to the Father and was beloved of Him. To be separated or forsaken by the Father was Jesus' greatest pain and fear. We are spiritual beings, and God is our Spiritual Father. Spirituality, therefore, is critical to our existence. We will learn how to worship, walk with, and work for God from Jesus' example.
Jesus was involved in the lives of the people around him and in the community. Beyond singing songs and praising God, we must work among people and be involved in their lives as we share our lives with them. We will learn how to build real friendships, build godly homes, and live a life of global impact through discipleship.
When we begin with Wisdom, we can experience transformation in stature. You cannot give what you don’t have. Knowing and doing God’s will opens us to His Favour, allowing us to be intimate with Him and serve Him acceptably. Our relationships and social life will be shaped by divine wisdom, enabling us to model a good life and positively impact the lives of others. The combination of wisdom, stature, and spirituality allows us to be purposeful and successful in our relationships with people. Our ultimate objective is to reconcile them to God through discipleship.
